Chicagoland Resources

The Chicago Resources section was designed with you in mind. Thinking like developers, we asked ourselves: when we want to start a project, where do we turn? After exhaustive internet searches and consultations with Chicago’s Green Community we discovered that, while Chicago has countless sources of excellent information on green building, no central source or directory listed them all.

The goal of the Chicagoland Resources section is to be that centralized directory. We can’t recommend one source over another, but we can tell you what information is out there and how to access it. From green supply retailers to training opportunities, government agencies to non-governmental organizations, building professionals to project funding—we try to cover it all here, but we are always interested hearing about additional resources. Please contact us if you have anything that you think belongs on this site!

When we created this site we wanted to ensure that it would serve a broad audience: everyone from the greenhorn developer (pardon the pun) to the LEED-accredited professional. As a result, if you don’t know what a bioswale is, all you have to do is check out our glossary. Who knows—maybe you’ll even find funding for bioswales in our financial resources section, which we’ve connected throughout the entire site, or perhaps you can search and see how bioswales are utilized in an area case study.

We invite you to spend some time digging around the site, and of course, always remember that Green can be Affordable.
